About
Who runs this
mmitech is run by Riki Baker, a software engineer based near Haverhill in Suffolk. The studio grew out of mendmyi - the device-repair business he founded, still owns, and still runs day-to-day out of a workshop in Haverhill. Every weekday morning starts the same way: phones on the bench, tickets in the queue, the front-of-house tablet showing yesterday's reconciled books. The build patterns the studio now ships for other UK businesses - the multi-channel receptionist, the workshop platform, the social-content engine - all started as load-bearing tools mendmyi needed first.
What the studio is
mmitech is a software studio. We build - and then run - the small, load-bearing internal apps and automations that small and medium UK businesses need to stop doing things manually. Two surfaces, in that order: a bespoke build, scoped per client, flat-fee, no per-seat creep; and an optional monthly arrangement after the build to keep the thing running - hosting, custom phone or SMS lines, monitoring, small changes.
The distinction worth being clear about up front: we are a software studio, not a managed-services agency. We'll build you a dashboard that shows your CP12 round at a glance; we won't run your CP12 round. We'll wire a missed-call → SMS workflow into your existing number; we won't take the calls for you. The buyer-recognition vocabulary on the industries pages - Gas Safe, NICEIC, ARLA, RICS, MCS, CQC - describes your world, never our scope.
The parent group - proof at three layers
The studio sits on top of a small parent group. Three layers, each one its own case study, each one the proof for a different claim the rest of the site makes.
The operating business is mendmyi - Riki's UK device-repair business in Haverhill. Service and retail under one site: repair enquiries on one tab, refurbished phones and accessories on another, every order and every ticket tracked against the same live data the in-shop counter sees. It's the petri dish - the place mendbuddy's multi-channel receptionist, RepairMinder's workshop chassis, and the booking-and-review-loop pattern were first built and tested before being shipped for anyone else.
The legacy-modernisation track is mmi-services - the studio's own sister brand, a 2008-era line-of-business claims-handling system that still runs the business, sat behind a modern marketing surface, with the legacy pages systematically de-risked and performance-tuned in place rather than rewritten from scratch. Proof of "we can take over what you've got" without forcing a rewrite that breaks the business.
The platform proof is three productised builds the studio ran end-to-end on its own businesses first: mendbuddy - the multi-channel AI receptionist; RepairMinder - the multi-tenant workshop platform; and PlanPost - the social-content engine that runs off your operational data. Alongside them, Storytimebaker is the reference for shipping the whole native iOS plus Android plus backend stack, and pharmaceutical-analytics for the dashboard as the deliverable. Every one is a clickable live URL or a public repo.
How we work
How we work is straightforward and bespoke per client. We talk it through first - what you do, what's slowing the business down, what you've already tried. We come back with a scoped sketch and a written fixed fee for the build. We build it. We keep it running for you afterwards if you want us to, on a monthly arrangement that covers hosting, comms infrastructure, monitoring, and small change requests. No prices on the site - every build is scoped to the business and the fee gets agreed in writing before the work starts. Tell us what you'd like built.
What we don't do
Worth being upfront about what we don't sell, so you know where we fit. No off-the-shelf SaaS subscriptions - our own SaaS apps appear here as case studies of what we've built, not products you can sign up for; if you want something shape-wise like one of them, we'll build you your own version. No managed back-office for regulatory schemes - we'll build software that helps your Gas Safe-registered engineer remember the CP12 round; we don't run the round. No marketing, SEO, or paid-ads agency work. And no calendar-booked discovery calls - every conversation starts with an enquiry form and an email reply.
Tell us what's slowing the business down
Send an enquiry - what you do, what's slowing you down, what you've already tried. We'll come back with a sketch of what we'd build and what it would cost. No calendar, no demo to sit through.
